Alternative wedding venues are going to become more and more popular in 2018 and in the years ahead. I’m not a fan of cookie-cutter weddings, insert bride and groom here, guests here etc. I much prefer to create a day and experience that’s unique to you, the couple, and what better way than a quirky, alternative wedding venue like a craft beer brewery!
Top Trend
As I spoke about in my 2018 Wedding Trends post, non-traditional elements of a wedding are going to become more and more popular, starting with the venue. This styled shoot is the ultimate wedding inspiration for laid back, beer-loving couples that want something unique, fresh and different for their wedding day.
Stunning Air BnB properties, quirky, chic boutique hotels and alternative venues and spaces like this one in Minnesota will break the cookie-cutter mould of weddings and make yours stand out. It’s also a great way to make everything about your day more personal to who you are as individuals and a couple. Minnesota is home to many local microbreweries so the inspiration for this styled wedding was the new Saint Paul brewery, BlackStack Brewing.
Florals
Florals are going to be the biggest wedding trend for 2018. Lots of fresh foliage, hanging floral chandeliers, arrangements and installations. Lots of greenery, vines and lush blooms, and for bouquets too! A monochromatic real flower wall or backdrop makes a big statement and immediately adds luxury to any setting or backdrop.
Style & Décor
Big windows with natural light and giant exposed beer barrels instantly makes for a unique and quirky wedding venue. Not to mention the long bar that practically guarantees a party, with handcrafted beer, or-course! Playing off the industrial vibes of the brewery, the warm mustard hues throughout the tablescape and florals takes the look from a brewery to a chic wedding venue.
Details & Prep
Although I’d be freaking out if the rust rubbed off onto my dress, I really like the contrast of a white, delicate wedding dress against the harsh, rusty background. There’s beauty in that too, and I doubt you’ve seen images like this in friends/family wedding albums.

The Getaway Vehicle
I mean, if you’re going to have an alternative wedding venue, you’ve gotta have an equally quirky, alternative mode of transport to drive off into the sunset as a Mr & Mrs! Que this gorgeous tear-drop vistabule trailer….
The Couple
Although this is a styled shoot, it features a (gorgeous!) real couple. Here are some of my favourite shots of Ryan & Christina.
